    • Our Mission

Monroe County Meals on Wheels plans, supplies, and delivers nutritious and appealing meals, with the help of volunteers,
to the homebound who are physically or mentally unable to shop for and/or prepare meals for themselves.

    • Brief History

Church Women United organized Monroe County’s first and only Meals on Wheels program in 1972 with the support of the Monroe County Clergy Association.  In October of that year, Monroe County Meals on Wheels began delivering meals to 11 clients in Stroudsburg with the assistance of various county groups, including Visiting Nurse, AARP, MH-MR, and the Cooperative Extension Service.  44 years later, our volunteers deliver to more than 230 clients over 13 routes throughout Monroe County.  With our community’s need for our services outpacing the number of available volunteers, we implemented a once-a-week frozen meal program in 2016 to ensure waiting lists are kept to a minimum.
